Regional UNODC held an ad hoc training event from 18th to 26th of July in Batumi, Georgia.
This training event is organised for new members of their Container Control Program units of Georgia and Ukraine. The event will be held, from 18th to 26th of July, in Batumi, Georgia, and UNODC has invited EU-ACT Project to participate and to provide funding for the cost of the Georgian attendees.
The units created/supported through the WCO/UNODC program are strategically placed to tackle the heroin transit trade. In Georgia (Poti and Tbilisi), they are staffed jointly by police and Customs and work towards common targets. The overall remit is broader than just drugs trafficking, but their role is pivotal in tackling the Afghan heroin routed through the region.
