South Caucasus Regional Office of the EU-ACT Project sponsored the second workshop concerning Adoption of the Drugs Strategy Action Plan for 2019-2020 in Tbilisi on December 11th.
The EU funded project ’’EU Action (EU-ACT) against Drugs and Organised Crime’’ supported one day workshop of the Ministry of Justice that aimed to finalise Drugs Strategy Action Plan for 2019-2020 which will be adopted by the Inter-Agency Council on Combatting Drugs Abuse by the end of the year. The meeting was held at the Training Center of Justice in Tbilisi and was attended by representatives of different state agencies, international organisations (UNODC, CoE) and non-governmental organisations to agree with the draft Action Plan for 2019-2020, present their comments and finalise the document for the approval by the Inter-Agency Council.
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) acts as Secretariat for the Inter-Agency Coordinating Council on Combatting Drugs Abuse. The Council is responsible for drafting drugs strategy and actions plans, the current action plan is due for renewal at the end of this year.
After the adoption of the document, EU-ACT Project will continue to support some of these activities of Georgian public institutions that are envisaged in 2019-2020 Action Plan for their successful implementation.
